The company was founded in 1988 by the Japanese shipping company Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), one of the largest in the world. It was conceived as a benchmark in luxury cruises. The Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony liners are the largest in this class. They have all the opportunities for recreation and entertainment typical of large liners. And at the same time, an atmosphere of luxury prevails.

In 2020, the expedition mega-yacht of the ice class, Crystal Endeavor, joined the fleet. Crystal Cruises has one of the highest quality indicators – service and space coefficients. It has repeatedly won in various prestigious nominations.

The cruise routes are planned for 3 years ahead. In fact, these are large round-the-world trips, divided into segments. Crystal Cruises conducts various themed cruises: landscape and garden design, photography, dance, art and music, wine industry, cooking and much more. The company offers unusual shore excursions for small groups.

Excellent meals on board are organized according to the “ultra all inclusive” system. According to the Berlitz Cruising & Cruise Ships Guide-2016, the company takes the first place in the nomination “Best food”.
In 2015, the company was sold to Genting Hong Kong Ltd., which owns Star Cruises, Dream Cruises and HNA Cruise, for $550 million.

In June 2022, a new company, Crystal Cruises Ltd., incorporated and based in the Bahamas, acquired Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony for a total of $128 million. She also offered the Florida court $13 million for the Crystal Cruises brand, a list of clients, domain names, social media accounts and other related assets.

Crystal Cruises Ltd. It is part of the new startup Crystal Cruises, created by the travel company A&K Travel Group, owned by Jeffrey Kent and Heritage (an industrial holding company headed by Manfredi Lefevre d’Ovidio). The expedition mega-yacht of the ice class Crystal Endeavor has been sold to the luxury company Silversea Cruises.
